Background

After graduating university, Ima-chan worked at a major construction company. Leater he traveled around the world with his partner (wife) for 4 and a half years, and was impacted by the cultures and traditions from all around the world. As he was awakened to the necessity of a more diverse from of education to keep up with globalization, he found TCS upon returning to Japan.

Philosophy

Learning is fun. If you have the mindset to enjoy everything and the ability to make connections, life can be so much fun. I want to share the joy I feel with the children, and I want to inquire together with them.

Tokyo Community School

Tokyo Community School (TCS) is a full-time micro school for children from ages 3 to 12, located in Nakano, Tokyo.
Children engage in inquiry-based learning and ICT-based personalized learning through small class sizes and mixed-aged level groupings.
TCS consists of the international Preschool which caters to children aged 3 to 6, and the Primary school which caters to children aged 7 to 12.
The curriculum in the Preschool is delivered in English, and the curriculum of the Primary division is delivered in Japanese.
As an educational non-profit organization (NPO), TCS functions as an educational think tank, performing research and advocacy surrounding curriculum development and rich learning experiences for children.
