〜Unit Summary(テーマ概要)
At the start of Unit 6, learners’ existing knowledge and personal encounters with water will be assessed through circle time discussions and activities, including story time. They will be presented with open-ended inquiries designed to elicit their comprehension and personal encounters regarding water’s nature, its various forms, appearances, and whether they believe it possesses transformative properties.
Learners will have the opportunity to engage with water in diverse forms, settings, and applications. Through art and play-based activities as well as experiments, participants will witness how subjecting water to varying temperatures, structures, and how other substances (such as tea, dirt, and paint) influences its form, weight, taste, and color. They will be encouraged to provide feedback on the condition of the “water” and engage in discussions about whether they still regard the outcome of the experiment or activity as “water.” Furthermore, learners will be tasked with identifying what they define as “water” within the school premises, the neighborhood, and the natural environment, realizing that water exists in numerous forms AROUND US. Along their journey, we will also explore water’s role in sustaining life by tending to plant life within the preschool, visiting aquariums, and recognizing how water supports their daily lives through the water they consume.”
At the end of this unit, we want learners to understand that water comes in many forms, shapes, and can be found around us – at home, school, and in nature. They will see how water is essential not only to them but also to their school, home, and community.
