【Central idea】Celebrations bring people together to share events that are
important to them.
〜Unit Summary（テーマ概要）v1
There are many different cultural festivals and celebrations all around the world, and each festival has its own unique purpose and manner of celebration. In this Unit, students will experience a different celebration each week (form), while learning about each event’s distinct features (form) and the reasons behind these features (function). They will see that each festival uses different colors, decorations, traditions, costumes, food and music (perspective).
By being immersed in a variety of cultural experiences, students will be introduced to different perspectives and learn to be more open-minded to those who are different from them. In a world where having relationships with others is encouraged and necessary, learning how to be open and accepting of differences will help them in building relationships with those who belong to a different language and culture.
At the end of the Unit, students will draw upon their learning of celebrations and create their own celebration or festival for the Presentation.
